480681 2006-08-25 03:47:00 Hi:
this recently occurred:
im running winxp, sp2.
when i attempt to open folders (which is not the standard yellow)
i get this message, " windows cannot find a program to open the file."
i can't open control panel, restore, plus many more functions.
in fact, i can't re-install winxp.
any thoughts?
tia

480682 2006-08-25 05:22:00 Hey there. What do you mean "not the standard yellow" folders? Does the desktop load when you switch on your computer? Can you access any folders in safe mode? May I know "why you can't reinstall Windows XP"?

Cheers :)

1. on my desktop, the folders are normally yellowish in color.
2. the clock is the only item that loads.
3. cannot access any folder(s) in the safe mode.
4. when i click "install winxp" from the cd disk, absolutely
nothing happens.
5. i can't access any folders, other than perhaps, music folders.
6. i personally believe a serious virus has gotten in my system, and
i'm totally lost.

480684 2006-08-25 21:17:00 Hi, i think you either have a lot of programs running right from the start of the windows application which causes delay and troubles, so what i advice you is to make a system recovery, which is two type destractive and non destractive, that can be done by rebooting the system and press F10 and follow the instruction but choose non destructive recovery first.
if it does not work then you will have to do the destructive but you need to save all your important files to an external hard drive.

i hope its gonna be okay(i had the same problem earlier)
