| 480158 | 2006-08-22 19:10:00 | I had just unthinkingly plugged a Dell Printer into my computer, HP(by usb adapter). My last computer was dell and this printer was very expensive, but I noticed that no matter what I did, it failed to run. I also noticed that the "Install New Hardware" button kept popping up over and over. This became annoying, so I unplugged the printer. Everything was fine mor maybe a week, when my mouse(usb) also stopped working. No install new hardware message, but the light in the bottom of the mouse didn't come on, signaling to me that there was something wrong with the USB port. I found another usb port and plugged in the mouse and everything was fine. Or so I thought. Now, if my computer is on for more than like 5 hours or if I'm playing a game or have any sort of window open, it sometimes closes down. Open windows dont' ALWAYS close, but it's occasional enough to be an annoyance. (Note: When a window closes without my prompting it to, it does NOT lead to the BSOD stop message. This leads me to think it might be from another problem.) When I turn my computer back on after a crash to the blue, a message reporting that "A serious error has occured" shows up(Both for Windows XP and for Media Center Host Module). When I click details, I get either XP ---- szAppName : ehRec.exe szAppVer : 5.1.2710.2732 szModName : mscoree.dll szModVer : 2.0.50727.42 offset : 0001098b C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER917e.dir00\Mini 082206-03.dmp C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER917e.dir00\sysd ata.xml Media Center Host Module -------- BCCode : 1000007e BCP1 : C0000005 BCP2 : F7261379 BCP3 : F7ACEAC4 BCP4 : F7ACE7C0 OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 2_0 Product : 256_1 C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER8bf8.dir00\ehRe c.exe.mdmp C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER8bf8.dir00\appc ompat.txt -----Please help me :waughh: (PS: As I type, Windows has malfunctioned and all programs other than Firefox have frozen. This is a brand new computer no more than one month old. The only way I could copy and paste the error messages from notepad were by alt-tabbing out of this window. Wryyyyy meeeeeee??!?!?!? |

| 480159 | 2006-08-22 19:35:00 | Welcome to PressF1 As it is a brand new computer, you should take it right back for the manufacturer to fix under warranty. That is what the warranty is for. :) |

| 480161 | 2006-08-22 22:39:00 | Welcome to PressF1 As it is a brand new computer, you should take it right back for the manufacturer to fix under warranty. That is what the warranty is for. :) I thought of that, but the local computer stores will most likely just reinstall windows as they don't really know anythhing about computers. And if I sent it in to the manufacturer, I'd have no computer, and schools about to start. And the EhRec.exe isn't a pest. I checked the company name and it didn't have a hidden attribute. I think the usb port is just messed up, but I don't know enough about computers to make a definite answer. And I have Spysweeper and Windows Live... Windows Live Something :-p Ty for your help so far. |
