| 480297 | 2006-08-23 16:28:00 | the 's' key does not work for me. whenever I need to use the letter 's', i have it copied and I just paste it. I have tried replacing keyboards, only to be rendered with the same problem. sometimes the 's' key works, and other times it doesn't. like 5 mins ago, it was working fine, and then all of a sudden, it stops working. when it didn't work the first time, I replaced keyboards, and it still didn't work. all of the other keys work. it works on and off, but mostly off. Any suggestions? IMO, I think my computer is at fault here. I'm still running Windows 98. |

| 480299 | 2006-08-24 01:18:00 | Welcome to PressF1. If changing keyboards doesn't fix it, there's some software at work. :D Try booting to DOS (or even just run a DOS window) and see if it works reliably, especially at a time when the key's not working in Windows. That would put the blame on Windows. There's a way to redefine keys (even to do nothing) in DOS (... it's unlikely, but make sure there isn't a call to ANSI.SYS in your C:\CONFIG.SYS file) and there's certainly a way to do it in W98. Someone will know what it is. ;) |
