480901 2006-08-27 03:31:00 I recently bought a philips Go - Gear 512 mb mp3 device when I plu it in the USB port it doesn't automaticly open a pormpt to view etc or appear in the my computer window - it does however show up the safely remove icon on the windows tool bar - I have not probs with my video cam or normal digital cam on the same ports

any wisdom - it doesn't make any difference if plugged into USB 1 or 2 ports

I hope I can get visibility of this - to be able to download upload stuff

Any wisdom appreciated

480902 2006-08-30 11:27:00 I have found on investogation that in the device manager it is recognising the 512mb as a USB Mass Storage device - but no drive or letter is being assigned in My Computer - hope this might shed some light on someone being able to post a reply to me - I am posting again as I am getting frustrated at not being able to download to it at home - I can at work.

Many thanks

480903 2006-08-30 11:36:00 Something like this would have come with software.

Try loading it through that, its probably not designed to be a drag and drop Hard drive type interface.

480904 2006-08-30 12:14:00 the funny thing is that it works for me no sweat at my work and my pc regonises this device and assigns a drive letter. Since wirting I did have drive letter appear and then crash

480905 2006-08-30 12:18:00 Lets look at similarities then

List the system specs of both machines including os and version

See if it shows up here, if so right click it and asign a letter.
