| 480774 | 2006-08-26 03:17:00 | My hard drive is making a weird noise when it boots. It is secured properly, here are my specs: 512 MB RAM AMD athlon XP 1800+ western digital caviar IDE 200gb hard drive Radeon 9250 Winfast K7S740 motherboard I am worried it might fail soon and I just bought it some months ago and I have alot of valuble data on it, PLEASE HELP! |

| 480776 | 2006-08-26 04:46:00 | Don't guess .. use the daignostic tools (support.wdc.com) i.e. Data lifeguard diagnostics. Although I might back up first if you don't have a backup already ....as I've had drives that happened to completely die while I was testing them. |

| 480777 | 2006-08-26 05:42:00 | Are you sure it is the hard drive making the noise? Failing fans can make a bit of noise at times. If you take off the side of the case, you might be able to pinpoint the source of the noise. But, as already advised, make sure you do your backups immediately while you can. |
