481775 2006-08-31 22:28:00 I am using Firefox 1.5.0.6. I have to reformat my HDD and would like to save a copy of my bookmarks, but have been unable to find a way of doing this. In fact I cannot find the bookmark file in windows explorer. Your suggestions welcomed... Shiner (6676)
481776 2006-08-31 22:37:00 Either go to Bookmarks > Manage Bookmarks > File > Export and save the file somewhere on your hard drive, eg the Desktop, or get one of these extensions:

www.pikey.me.uk for backing up the bookmarks

or

http://mozbackup.jasnapaka.com/ for backing up your Firefox profile.

Documents and Settings/User/Application Data/Mozilla/Firefox

However if you have more than one user or you have set up as an Administrator it may be more complicated. Suggest you wait to hear from someone more advanced than me !

481779 2006-08-31 23:51:00 Very many thanks to all respondents. I used the Mackin_NZ and FoxyMX method and have now saved the file to the hard disk. Don't know why I didn't spot that!

Misty, I had checked that file and found that it contained nothing - thanks for the suggestion anyway.

FoxyMX, thanks for the pointers, I'll check out the extensions after I've completed the reformat and reinstall
