481253 2006-08-29 23:02:00 The PC has just turned 25. PC World celebrates with a face-off list pitting the best computers of the 80s and 90s against today's beasts. Now screening here (pcworld.co.nz). Chris Keall (10417)

481255 2006-08-30 01:12:00 Out of that list there is only two that I remember using the Apple PowerBook 100 (1991) & Apple Macintosh Plus (1986). stu161204 (123)
481256 2006-08-30 01:42:00 I still have a fully working Toshiba T1000 laptop from 1987... godfather (25)
481257 2006-08-30 02:06:00 Agree with the top 5 with the exception of the IBM Thinkpad, sure it might have been innovative, but i wouldnt have said it was the 5th greatest PC of all time. Pete O'Neil (6584)
481258 2006-08-30 02:34:00 Where is the screen on some of them? Fishy (10540)

No, didn't have screens. In that era they all learned to touch type

So they are essentially typewriters? Because they did nothing but type documents right?
The first time I used a computer was in 2000

481261 2006-08-30 04:32:00 No, Shortcircuit is joking. Just like many desktops still do today, they didn't come with a monitor, you had to buy one separately. :)

I definitely agree with the number one spot. I've got an Apple IIc (which is slightly newer) and it is definitely worthy of such a ranking (you may be interested to know it could run a flight simulator Fishy - although back then a simulator consisted of lots of green lines). :p

481262 2006-08-30 05:18:00 ... with the exception of the IBM Thinkpad, ... I disagree. After giving my CEO one these in 1992, I am still impressed by the build quality of them now. My next PC will be a Thinkpad, I have decided. I will get it with the 5-year warranty that is still available, through the right channels. KiwiTT_NZ (233)
