483470 2006-09-09 07:20:00 I plan on moving ISP's and wondering if you get to keep your email address? I know theres a fee if you want to do remote mail but I only plan to use their webmail.

Looked on the Xtra website but it isn't very helpful and I haven't found an email to ask about it either.

483471 2006-09-09 08:02:00 If you want to keep an Xtra email address, then you will need to retain an account with Xtra and pay Xtra for that account.

It is not common to retain a ".xtra.co.nz" email address if your ISP is someone else. Most people use a free Gmail address or similar for a more permanent identity, which means you can use any ISP.

Or as I do, have you own domain name, then your address goes with you.

They were probably lucky. Oh well.

483473 2006-09-09 21:20:00 Its $2.50 to keep an email only account. Secure Remote is extra and doesn't work properly anyway. pctek (84)
483474 2006-09-09 21:56:00 yeh you DONT need an internet 'account' to retain an email address......as pctek says its about $2.50 per month just to have an email account drcspy (146)
483475 2006-09-10 00:53:00 Damn I might as well use my own domain. Saves me $15+ a year :D

Just getting everyone who emails me to get the new email address is a hassle.
