| 483526 | 2006-09-11 02:49:00 | A much easier question about video clips. YouTube tells me I don't have JavaScript turned on. So where do I find it to fix that? (Both IE & Firefox, please) |

Install the Greasemonkey Extension for Firefox (http://greasemonkey . mozdev . org/) . 2 . Right-click this . js file ( . joshkinberg . com/blog/files/youtube_to_me . user . js" target="_blank">www . joshkinberg . com) and select "Install User Script" (if you don't see that option try step one again) 3 . Now on every UTube video page there should be a red bar at the top, that says "Save As" to download Flash video . (see screenshots here ( . joshkinberg . com/blog/archives/2005/11/greased_google . php" target="_blank">www . joshkinberg . com)) 4 . Right click the text in the red bar, select "Save Link As," and save the file as a . flv file . Firefox will try to save it as "get_video . php," you need to change the " . php" to " . flv," and change the first part to whatever you prefer . Now you need to either download a media player that runs . flv files, or download a program that converts them to other file types . Here are links to both: [B]FLV PLayers FLV Player ( . martijndevisser . com/2005/10/flv_player_updated . html" target="_blank">www . martijndevisser . com) VLC player ( . videolan . org/vlc/" target="_blank">www . videolan . org) FLV Converters Riva FLV Encoder ( . videohelp . com/viewtopic . php?t=259578" target="_blank">forum . videohelp . com) Total Video Converter ( . effectmatrix . com/total-video-converter/" target="_blank">www . effectmatrix . com) BTW: here's another way that MAY be easier from another techsite ( . com/blog/youtube_en . php" target="_blank">javimoya . com) . AND: Vdownloader ( . enriquepuertas . com/wp-content/files/vdownloader . zip" target="_blank">www . enriquepuertas . com) is a program for Windows that allows you download videos from U Tube and G-Vid in AVI or MPG format with just one click . AND: You can download U Tube videos without using the installation of extra software using this (http://www . fileleecher . com/) . I haven't used this one yet, but I just got the program . . . will try it later this month when I am recovering from another eye surgery . :groan: Have fun! |

Yes you can get fullscreen - just push F. It's a command line player, so uses keyboard commands. The "Read Me" file has the keyboard instructions. You don't even have to set-up MPlayer, just extract and use it, basically. And it plays every media file I've thrown at it. Make sure you download the Windows build (unless you use a Mac OS or Linux of course). Find it here: MPlayer (www.mplayerhq.hu) Just choose the closest server for the version you want and you're away laughing. The only thing you may want to do is to go into the "Send To" Folder and create a shortcut to the "MPlayer.exe" file. For XP, the easiest way to do this is 'Copy' Mplayer.exe, Then go into"My Computer", Then select 'Tools' from the toolbar, Select 'Folder Options' from the drop-down Tab, Select the 'View' Tab, De-Select the 'Hide protected operating system files' option, Select the 'Show hidden files and folders' option, Click 'OK'. THEN, Go into your C Drive or System Disk, Into the "Documents and Settings" Folder, Into "Insert username here" Folder, You should see a "Send To" Folder. Go into that and right-click some emptyspace, Choose 'Paste shortcut'. Now whenever you right-click on a media file - be it half a media file, or one still in the process of downloading - you can choose Send To > shortcut to MPlayer, and it will usually find something playable in it. Within reason of course, you probably need a few hundred kB or so downloaded before you get a picture. |
