| 484818 | 2006-09-15 00:48:00 | I have 2 computers at different locations a Compaq Presario and an HP Pavilion more or less the same high end machines and about 9 months old. Both have HP Light Scribe DVD drives. I am trying to move a couple of Gb of pictures from the Compaq to the HP. On the Compaq I quick format a DVD and then drag the folder with the pictures onto the DVD drive and they are written to the drive over 5 or 6 minutes. When I check the DVD on the Compaq they all show up fine. However, when I try to read the discs on the HP nothing shows up and looking at properties tells me the disk is full. Ive tried both DVD+RW and DVD-R discs; what I am I doing wrong? Do I need to do something to the disk on the first machine to make it readable on the second? Thanks Douglas |

| 484819 | 2006-09-15 01:33:00 | Drag & drop can be a little picky sometimes.......try using the OEM burning software.....from memory it will probably be something along the lines of sonic record now, just burn a plain old data dvd :) Cheers KiwiMR2 |

| 484820 | 2006-09-15 04:14:00 | Hi Guys, When you say quick "format a DVD and then drag the folder" I guess this means you are using re-writable DVD+RW?? If so, means you are using "Packet writing" software on the Compaq (such as Nero InCD or an equivalent). Might need exactly the same software on the HP to be able to read these discs - no sofware or another brand could explain the issue. As KiwiMR2 says, using a plain old "write once" DVD-R (or DVD+R) is another answer and by-passes any compatibility issue. Regards, Martnz |
