484466 2006-09-14 02:34:00 Ok guys, I am running xp and IE and on broadband.

When I intially start up my pc I access the net no probs.

When I hop off the net and use the computer for something else, say I play a game for a half hour or something. I finish my game and go to hop back on the net and surprise surprise I cannot connect.

My LAC says Im sweet to go and still connected etc but the page display says I am not connected or cannot find the server.

Have I got a setting wrong or is someting missing from my system?

Im stumped.

Thanks heaps for help.
Rob

Hi Rob,

log into your Modem 192 . 168 . 1 . 1 with your browser . On the first page on the left you will see "connect to the internet" and "quick setup" go into "quick set up" follow the prompts but when you get to the part that shows to put username and password . . . . under that you will see "session established by" make sure you tick the part that says ALWAYS ON . . . .

It looks as those you chose one of the other ones where it will disconnect you after a certain period .

. . . . . . hope thats helps

Wouldn't this be something that is designed to work that way since I believe that you are using DSL with caps and limits . . . it might just be a way for it to default to a disconnected state and save you some units . . right? Just a thought . . . . . . .

I thought that too, but it happens even if a page is running in background.

Thanks Ghost, I got it sorted. It was set for if idle after 30 mins disconnect.
