484902 2006-09-24 12:27:00 I just hope ISP's don’t port shape port 21 (FTP), but I am pleased that ISP’s are port shaping p2p/torrent traffic as p2p/torrent traffic is a waste of bandwidth & costing ISP’s money.

Orcon did this for a while last year... You'd switch to FTP to update some web pages (on their own servers!) and see only about 5 kilobytes/s. They also did it with the NNTP port, but after a few weeks of grumbling suddenly the shaping went away....

I'm feeling really gutted now that I see Xtras new plans. Goddamit, why couldnt they tell me last month to wait and see the new plans....now I'm on a goddam 18 month shaping contract

484905 2006-09-27 19:41:00 Big thanks to this thread, I'm on ihug and big user of bit torrent - adjusted my port to very low and bang moves from maybe 50KB / sec total to now up to 350
