1396802 2015-03-19 06:02:00 On two occasions Malware Bytes has picked up a file called 'Hijack Start menu'.
A few days ago I restored the file and shut down Malware Bytes. Sure enough, one morning I booted Windows and the Start Menu had gone. I then did the same with my second laptop and the same thing happened.

The first one is on Windows 7 Pro, and the second Windows 7 Ultimate. Restoring them only takes about 20 minutes with Acronis. I also discovered that 'Hijack Start menu' had entered itself in 'Exclusions' list in Malware Bytes in the second computer. I now keep a check on the Malware exclusions list.

1396804 2015-03-19 11:16:00 I had recently installed a paid version of "Boost-Speed 7" by Auslogics of Holland in both machines. I removed it because it kept on removing my password settings, and also set the firewall to block my FTP program. This is the only new software that the two computers had in common at the same time. Cost me $43! mzee (3324)

So you got ripped off twice: once for buying software which won't do the job it's advertised to do, and second, you paid for malware...

A good lesson to learn (and a relatively cheap one at $43.00)...

Those types of "speed-up Programs" don't do anything general maintenance, manually unticking items on startup and cleanups will do .

Never really seen the point of installing programs that use system resources (and they all will) to try and speed up by controlling other resources on a computer .

Looks like the program installed is the cause of the problem, especially if its been put on two computers and now both computers are doing the same thing .
