Thanks Beetle - this may be what I do if psycik's suggestion does not work.
It is more convenient to access Netflix from the TV itself rather than using the desktop PC, but the long HDMI cable
will be better than having to set up the laptop next to the telly.

dugimode - thanks for the info. Not even sure if my PC has a DVI out, but I do plan to get a graphics card (has on-board graphics now as i do not do games) which will have HDMI out.

Hola is on android if you still want to access us site plod (107)
1397089 2015-04-04 01:30:00 I signed up for the skippy version.

Spent an hour browsing and didn't find a single movie or show I wanted to watch, everything that was of interest I already have on file or I'm a season ahead of.

Big fat old cancel coming up when my free trial is over.

On a positive note it works damn well with my WDTV in the lounge.

Chromecast has Google Public DNS hard-coded (8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4) so you'll need a router that intercepts DNS requests and forwards them on to a DNS Forwarding Service if you're going to use US Netflix on Chromecast. Gargoyle is your friend, it's literally just the click of a button! :)

So chrome cast still uses the built in apps even when casting from a browser using hola

Ummmm no it doesn't? The Chromecast initiates its own connections the whole entire way. Nothing is routed through your phone, no DNS from your phone is passed on :-/

Hola is great on a PC or whatever but it has absolutely zero bearing on the Chromecast.

1397093 2015-04-05 19:30:00 Plod might be suggesting casting the androids screen to the chromecast in which case whatever hola is doing on the phone will still apply. icow (15313)

The only problem with that is that you have to keep the screen on all the time and there's usually lots of other junk icons on the screen you can't get rid of..
