1396849 2015-03-20 21:22:00 Mostly a Rant because I'm getting really annoyed with them, but if anyone knows how to fix my issues let me know.

I haven't been able to buy anything on Ebay from sellers who use Paypal for about a year now. First paypal requires me to verify my credit card by paying them $3 which I may never use as I rarely actually pay via paypal. Then after a while with a balance of $3 still on my account they want me to do it again, and I ignore them. Then I try to buy something via Ebay from a seller who uses paypal to process credit cards, no problem I think, just enter my credit card details and.... "sorry you can't use that card because it's registered to a paypal account, please log in to pay via your account" (or words to that effect). So I log in to my paypal and unregister my card because I'm rather annoyed at being told I can't use it and try again - now it says I can't use my card with no explanation.

I give up on that transaction and leave it for a while, a few weeks later I log into paypal and try to fix the fact that my account is now limited. The only option is to go to the resolution centre which tells me I need to change my password - no problem, verify my e-mail - no problem, verify my credit card by paying them $3 again.... except it's not registered, and you can't add cards to a limited account......, and I still have a $3 balance from the last time I veriified it. I give up in disgust.

Next try a couple days later I click "contact us", get the run around with an automated system that seems to be sure if I just click one of the completely unrelated topics I'll be able to sort it out myself, find there is no topic for my problem, have to choose one anyway before it'll let me send a message so I choose "password problems" and describe my issues. A day later I receive an automated e-mail about resetting my password and that's it, no follow up. Today I repeated the process and chose a different option and wrote a long very annoyed explanation, if they don't do something helpful this time I'm deleting my account permanently.

Trouble is I still don't know if I'll be able to use my own credit card to buy anything from sellers who use paypal to process credit cards, that's honestly the most annoying part. I don't care if it's registered or not, it's my card and if I want to buy something online with it from anywhere it's not paypals place to decide how or if I can do that.

1396850 2015-03-21 01:26:00 Wondering if it's a issue with your credit card or is it a debit card? Paypal recently emailed me to tell my debit card will expire next month. But registering my new card, including entering the 3 number security card was rejected. Paypal told me to check with my bank (ASB). I realised I had not linked it to my bank account - and can't do it online - as it's already linked to my soon to expire current account. So will visit or ring t a local branch soon.

But seems though you are using a credit card, and can't be an credit expiry issue, as they would have emailed you about it. But you mention you enter credit card details to a ebay seller? All my purchases have been direct /seamless via buy now - continue - then entering paypal password (i.e. no not entering credit card details - which I recently heard from my daughter you can do, without using paypal).

1396851 2015-03-21 02:26:00 The card is fine, westpac Visa with 2 years til expiry and I use it elsewhere. Some sellers offer credit card purchases and use paypal to process the purchase, no paypal account required and you enter your card details. It's just paypal refusing to accept the card because it has been registered to a paypal account and they think you should log in and pay via the account rather than pay via credit card. They probably get a bigger cut their way. dugimodo (138)

1396853 2015-03-21 03:44:00 Yes I've E-mailed them, twice. Using that exact link. you get useless automated responses. No I don't particularly want to ring them. It's a simple issue made difficult by their contact options and policies. dugimodo (138)
1396854 2015-03-21 03:58:00 Sometimes you simply have to call and talk to someone. Often automated replies pick up on certain words and no one actually ever looks at your problem.

Remember once when calling Telstra and you get the automated voice options, please tell me what you would like ---- I said f**k sake  One moment -- Put me directly to the help desk :D

1396855 2015-03-21 05:19:00 I've found Entropay very good. It's a virtual prepaid Visa Debit Card. Set it up in minutes, set up a bill payment with your NZ bank account then just credit Entropay with the amount you want to spend, and it's almost immediately available for you to spend with the vendor.

No hassles, and the flexibility to operate within the Visa system

1396856 2015-03-21 10:20:00 I had an issue with paypal a while ago. I tried to login to my account but accidentally typed the wrong password about 3 times. So then by account was 'limited' and I couldn't buy anything off ebay. Just tried paying without my account --- nope, the card is registered. Can't 'unregister' the card either. They wanted proof of identity and address so I ended up having to send them my passport. That finally fixed the issue. Took about 2-3 weeks... sahilcc7 (15483)
