485215 2006-09-16 23:45:00 I've got a 2.5gig file that I want to burn to DVD-R, which already contains some content. This content was burnt in multi-session mode. There is plenty of space left to burn the new file.

But when I try to do this in Nero, I get an error message saying that files larger than 2 gigs can only be burnt to a blank disk.

Is there any way around this? The file is already compressed.

Thanks.

485216 2006-09-17 01:58:00 Now it's getting weirder. I went and bought some new DVD disks, but Nero now tells me that my disk can't take files larger than 2 gigs. Greg (193)
485217 2006-09-17 02:04:00 Not that I do much burning, but can you compress it into a zip file. Pancake (6359)
485218 2006-09-17 02:11:00 First thing I would try would be Virus/Adware/Malware detection and removal. If there's no change, maybe uninstall/reinstall Nero? Or try and update the drivers on your DVD Writer. Is Nero recognising the burner properly? Any other programs acting funny? Installed anything new since you last burnt to dvd? Many options. Good times. Good Luck. vader (11117)
485219 2006-09-17 04:17:00 Well thanks for your input, but honestly it's nothing to do with anything malicious, nor any problems with the software or hardware. The issue is that Nero appears incapable of doing the job, ie it simply isn't good enough.

I'm beginning to think it's a limitation of Nero Express (ver 6).

Maybe someone can suggest some other free DVD burning software.

485223 2006-09-17 06:19:00 dvd-r max size is 4.3 - so your files will need to be under this size, also make sure you have atleast 7gbs free on your Hdrive maulaulau (6699)
