| 485204 | 2006-09-16 16:36:00 | I'm having a problem with computer lag as soon as i install windows service pack2, fresh install and all, as soon as I install that service pack i get pc lag every 20-30 seconds. When it happens computer usages goes up to 100% for around 5 seconds, it doesnt matter how little I have running on the computer at the time, even if I have 0 programs running I still get the lag. If i uninstall service pack 2 the lag goes away. If I install service pack 1 i have no problems. The only reason I'm compelled to install service pack 2 is so my wireless USB adapter will work properly, if I use it with anything but service pack 2 it cuts out every few minutes, and it makes it impossible for me to play online games. I using a dell 8100 series pc, with radion x800 256mb vid card, 2048mb ram, soundblaster turtlebeach sound card, 2.8 ghz processor. Im thinking it has to have something to do with a hardware conflict my pc has with svc pack 2, but I have no idea where to start looking. Anyhelp would be appreciated thankx. | daminico (11154) | ||

It's usually spyware (if u didnt scan before u installed SP2), or lack of ram . Which isnt the case, in this case, since it looks like you've got 2 GB . It may also be slow, if the mobo is a SIS-based one (so, I found out) . Mobos with this chipset, can also make a system lag . It doesnt matter how much ram you've got . |
