485101 2006-09-16 03:42:00 Hi PressF1 members,

Today is Software Freedom Day 2006, an international event to promote the use of free software. Here in New Zealand we have teams registered to participate from Auckland, Christchurch, Hamilton, Oamaru, Waitakere and Wellington. This is the perfect opportunity to learn about the advantages of free software, how it can help you or your business and to learn about the philosophy of the free software movement.

For more details on this event please take a look at http://softwarefreedomday.org. More details on the specific activities of each of the teams are also available on this site.

Have a great day!

P.S. Please note that this is not an official announcement of any sort. It's just me being enthusiastic :) .

But isn't it a separate city. Auckland is a BIG place (especially if you come from Southland :D )

Depends on what you mean by separate . As far as the Mayors and councils are concerned, yes, as far as being separated by large patches of grass - nope, its all the same nightmare .
