You absulutely have to reinstall Defender to remove it . . . the reason is that the broken version leaves tails all over the place that by design set themselves up as indestructable . If you reload Defender, then it will re-establish those broken files, fixing them on the way and then allowing you to dump the whole thing once and for all . Then run CrapCleaner and check in Spybot's tools area and see if there's still any startup files from it left over . |

Wherever it is, you should find the rest of the missing files . Works for me when I accidentally save files and don't know where they went, but of course I already know the name to search for . I even tried searching the drives with a file recovery tool. No Joy, the download just vanishes into a black hole. Thanks anyway Billy, I'm going to reinstall Windows Defender and see what happens.
