484988 2006-09-15 13:17:00 Hi All
Got a problem with my 15 year old getting onto the computer all the time.
I know I should just rant and rave and tell the not so little bugger to get off my computer but i am sick of naggin and of changing passwords to stop him accessing only to find that he has somehow bypassed my admin password control and is cheerfully playing away on the darnn thing..can someone give me a foolproof method so i dont have this problem.

484990 2006-09-15 17:35:00 If you're on XP you should probably know that there is sometimes a default admin account, which can be reached at logon by hitting CTRL+ALT+DEL twice and typing it manually in the box (admin or administrator).

Also check wat the logon screen saver is set to in the registery.

484991 2006-09-15 21:01:00 It depends on his skill level. If its high then there is no foolproof method.
Short of removing all the ram or something and taking it with you.

484992 2006-09-16 01:14:00 I had a really successfull technique, I removed the keyboard to stop our teenager getting at the machine when he wasn't suppossed to Morgenmuffel (187)
484993 2006-09-16 01:25:00 Hahaha what is he doing on it that you don't want him to? Fishy (10540)

Probably downloading spyware that generates the sort of popups you don't want showing up in polite company.

I'm 15 and my mum lets me on the comp (obviously:rolleyes:) so i'm just curious why he's not allowed.

No it doesn't. If you are relying on that and nothing else then you have big problems.

484997 2006-09-16 13:48:00 Thanks all but i think i fixed the problem,i just use the old standard logon window instead of the XP one, it gives just one user and not two.It seems to have worked as he was on my laptop in the lounge when i got home today, trouble is now i get to hear is duff duff music, just cant win eh!
To answer the 15 year olds post.He has a lot of important exams this year and it is hard to get him to study if he spends all his time playing Injustice games.Besides its MY computer and it would be nice if he asked and didnt just assume it was his. What about watching a bit of telly with us or reading a book, shock horror!
