485804 2006-09-20 01:06:00 Keep getting this message when I try to use a respectable new installed chess game.
On looking it up on the net, I find it could be a cover for a virus, but virus check cant find it. I thought it was registry. Lots of sites offering to fix it for a fee, then theres a catch ---- smacks of hussle ----- any one got any ideas as to how to get on to my chess game without this error.
Win --- Me (I know I know)

Also on my other computer (XP) --- since I installed Norton antivirus and worm protection (not firewall) it has slowed to a snail pace and at times sits down for a long smoke before doing anything ---- no problems before, it was fast and furious.

Thanks for any ideas

What game exactly? How old is it?

What worm protection? Could possibly be malware itself. And Nortons is a resource hog.

Hopefully you have antispyware programs on these PCs in addition to antivirus?

485807 2006-09-20 09:13:00 The Chessgame is Chessmaster 10 (apparently over ten million copies sold).
Claims to work with Me.
