| 485380 | 2006-09-18 00:28:00 | I went to install MYOB16 on my computer, but it hung after starting the InstallShield window and the only way I could get out was to use Task Manager and close the task which said InstallShield was running. After several reboots and retries I tried to uninstall another programme just as an experiment, but again InstallShield hung. The computer has suffered a marked slow-down when booting up from about 2 weeks ago. I suspect a Windows update came down at that time and wonder if there was a problem with that download which corrupted something in InstallShield. So I tried a system restore back to some time before that date, but that doesn't work either - that hanging problem again! I sent a report to Microsoft. The report referred to a file rstrui.exe which lives in Windows\System32\Restore, so in case that was corrupted I copied the file off another computer which works fine, but that didn't help either. I have run a full virus scan with Norton, but it found nothing. Someone suggested I download an update for InstallShield from their website (Macromedia as it is now), but couldn't actually find how to download any updates. Anybody got a bright idea of where to go now? |

The MS error report is there to make you feel better, not because they actually read them . Nortons won't find spyware and is probably half the cause of slowness . |
