485435 2006-09-18 05:34:00 A friend of mine tried to copy a dvd for me (not copyrighted) but failed miserably :) So now I have an audio_ts and a video_ts folder on a disk that won't work in my dvd player. It works in file-mode on my PC, but I want to somehow rip it properly and reburn it. I kind of did it with Nero Vision, but the audio was very badly out-of-sync... the original doesn't have that problem.

I tried running the files (both the vob files and an iso of the disk) through dvd shrink, but it complains about the files - says its expecting another vob or ifo file that doesn't exist, then it bails. Nero recode says pretty much the same thing.

Is there any way I can get the data out of those vob files and perhaps into an mpg or similar so that I can just burn that straight onto a dvd, or something along those lines? It would help if the audio and video were in sync, as the dvd is of a documentary, and it kind of helps to see what they're talking about at the same time :)

Cheers,
Mike.

How many .vob files are there? Tried opening them in VirtualDub?

485438 2006-09-18 21:38:00 cyabro - I had no problems playing the vob files on my PC, that wasn't the issue... the issue was reburning it as a DVD to play in a standalone player. Everything I tried told me the DVD was incomplete, so wouldn't burn it properly.

But anyway I found a program called DVD Rebuilder which spent about 4 hours rebuilding the dvd files, then I ran DVD shrink over it again to produce a correctly set up ISO file which I burned and then played in my DVD player... successfully :)
