I have a 'friend' that is aware of issues with certain types of websites.
I have told him that if he edits his hosts.msn file that they will automatically be blocked and he won't be able to view them. The downside to this is that as he knows how to block them, he can unblock them in the same way.
Is there a program that can be installed that will password protect the file and also leave it readable for explorer, firefox etc? Obviously someone else would need to install it and set the password, but you get the general idea.

If not is there a good program that is also available? He is setup as the administrator, so looking for something that needs a password to be able to close it also.

I am sure my 'friend' will be grateful for any help.

485888 2006-09-20 13:05:00 For one it is just the hosts file and I have used it many times but not to block one from myself. mikebartnz (21)

\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts.msn

You might have to enable hidden files/folders

and yes that is basically it. The soul is willing, but the body is weak.
and at least I am trying to sort it out.
