486157 2006-10-01 02:33:00 Thank you Speedy. But I still need to run some serious application that needed 2.0Ghz above CPU.

Like WHAT? The NASA space station or something?

Or the next Peter Jackson film?

Obviously you're making up your own mind, and not listening to anyone else.

So, I dont know why people are replying to this post.

486159 2006-10-01 02:48:00 haha, that's funny. I think you forgot one thing. The newer version games will eat up more of its processing unit plus the new applications software will eat up the CPU power as well. Have you forgoten that? What will the new Window be? Super CPU resource eater?

Your an idiot! Do you know anything about how software interacts with SMP and Multicore systems? Just because you double the number of cores doesnt mean you get double the performance, actually in alot of cases there will be 0% performance gain.

Software has to be written to support multicores, currently very few applications even support dual cores, with the exceptions of a few niches peices of software and Quake3. It is expected to take atleast 1-2years before software developers start to support multicore CPU's, alot of developers have been coming out saying that its actually quite hard to write software that will take advantage of multiple cores. Chances are any new quad core cpu you buy next year will be outdated and obsolete before any software is avaliable to use it. How many software apps do you know that have been written to take advantage of AMD64? AMD released 64bit chips over 2 years ago yet it still isnt widely used, but accepted /as something that will be commonplace in the future.

Windows Vista will be more of a memory and video card whore than a CPU whore. Care to explain how "games eat up processing units"?

Im now going to do as Speedy and shutup, you have no idea what your talking about, and wont listen to advice. Youve obviously made up your mind prior to asking for help and were looking for someone to backup your foolish plan. This would have to be one of the most pointless threads in the history of PF1, and perhaps one of the few times the thread starter has ignored all advice given by posters.

Sorry, the fact is getting clearer now . Can't believe Pete O'Neil is right . Last time I played 18 Wheels of Steel series game and it didn't support Dual Core except applying patch to it .
 Thanks Pete O'Neil .

Can anyone recommend me which CPU should I go for Dual Core? I know Intel Core 2 is the best but what about AMD performance?

486161 2006-10-01 04:26:00 this is the last post i make in this thread due to you being arrogant and basically saying everyone is wrong and ignoring there advice, if you ask for advice, use it, we arent idiots, we know more than you about it if your asking us.

th E6000 is the cpu you want, its core duo 2 blah blah, theres NO point in upgrading your currect system, just BUY A NEW COMPUTER, and when did your computer raise from 2000$ to 3000$?????? lsat time i checked the system you had organised and sifted from the system i showed you, it was like...under 2000?

anywya, dude, dont wait, waitin is stupid in the world of computers, really, it is.

486162 2006-10-01 04:57:00 Sorry, I didn't say you guys were idoits. It is just one point that I've missed is from PC Experts and with a Financial dude.
A financial dude always look into new tech and how much will it depreciate each year, and whether is it worth to dump in $2000+ or wait till the new tech arrives.
And from PC Experts point of view is new tech is not going to work well unless it is older i.e. Dual Core rather than Quad, and they do not care how much will it depreciate.
Is that right? I mean I don't want to have a misunderstanding fact here.

If I want to get an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4Ghz for around $600 and which motherboard will go with this graphics card Asus 7900GT?

486166 2006-10-02 06:58:00 We'll see about that in the first quarter of 2007, and getting parts from China is much more cheaper and competitive. Means I'll save up about NZD$400-500 or more by buying the same brand and part in NZ. PedalSlammer (8511)
