486137 2006-09-28 10:39:00 Intel is promising an 8 core processor within 5 years. Are you going to wait for that?

There is no point getting quad core right now - it will probably take another year or 2 for most new software to be optimised for dual core, and even longer for it to be optimised for quad core.

You would probably see more of a performance benifit from raiding your hard drives than you would from going for quad core instead of dual core.

:groan: Actually I'm waiting the chip from AMD. AMD technology is not bad. PLUS I don't know where will Intel chips made from, Vietnam? Maybe I prefer it was made in China rather than Vietnam. Chinese technology is not bad besides most of the things are invented comes from China e.g. money, paper, gun powder, etc.
I've read some history books about China but it is too long.:D

486140 2006-09-28 11:13:00 Actually Greven is right I should buy a pc now but with a minimum spec that can run a PC. And wait for 2007-2008.
Thank you guys for your information.

486143 2006-09-29 01:41:00 Wait for Core 2 Extreme? I mean the first quad processor in NOV? OR AMD 4X4? PedalSlammer (8511)
486144 2006-09-30 03:08:00 dude, stop asking stupid questions, honestly.

ok, you dont WAIT for technology to come, when your buying a computer, ALL the companys are promising something great within the next year, does that mean wait a year? NO, cause in a years time they'll be promising even more! does that mean wait 2 years? NOOOOOOOOOOO, no shhh, get the core 2 duo E6600, and 400 watt is enuf yes.

486145 2006-09-30 08:49:00 What is the point in waiting? I had this thought and desided that if you wait now, when what you are waiting for comes out, there will be something else out there that you will think oh maybe I will wait for that... and so the cycle continues.

Get it now, no matter what the hardware will start to become obsolete in a few months if you are lucky...

You guys are right, what's the point of waiting. But if you a financial person, you wouldn't expect that goods cost that much after new tech have come out, plus it'll decreased more than you expect.
My final decision will be first quarter of 2007 whether to get one or not[But anyway I still need to get it maybe a second hand dual core processor]. According to Intel Conference few weeks ago,
the Core 2 Quad looks quite promissing. But I'm not sure of AMD.
Here another thing you guys wanna compare:
Core 2: 2.6Ghz Dual Core = X2
Core 2 Quad: 2.6Ghz Quad Core =X4
Wow, look at the calculation. X4 or X2?
I think I'll use the same old plain P4 for the moment or either get a secondhand components to upgrade it. lol. So budget, and yes it is. And it save you more rather than lose money once the new technology have come.

What do you upgrading the P4 1.8Ghz to P4 2.4Ghz? Any difference? And where do you guys think you can get that kind of part from?
