The price has hardly changed. The speeds has somewhat improved but its still too expensive, heavy users may like the Cabiorlet plan, some may like the Speedster plan but its capped. I use Internet a bit but I don't crave it or desperate but I would like it when its affordable. I think many pple are out there, they don't play games, all they want is a 2GB allowance, FS download is fantastic (due to the network of course) but 128k is not for me but hte Speedster of FS upload is great such as uploading big emails or photo's to digital labs. But I don't want to pay $40 a month for it or ~$47. Its got to get down to $30 until I would get it, I will then stick with my $12 150hr dialup. |

| 486750 | 2006-09-23 05:26:00 | Looking at the plans I gather that those on the current Adventure plan can change to the Cabriolet plan and save $15-$20 per month which sounds good. :) However, it will be interesting to see what sort of speeds people get in real life on this plan compare with those on other plans (in a worst case scenario, it would only cost those in Zone 2 an extra ~$2 per month over what they are paying now to upgrade to the Pro plan (unfortunately no throttle on bandwidth though), but it does cost quite a bit more for those in Zone 1 - hopefully I'm in Zone 2 :D ). | maccrazy (6741) | ||
| 486751 | 2006-09-23 05:38:00 | It’s not looking good for me who moved 7 GB of bandwidth last month :( But Hopefully we can stay with our 10 GB cap(on adventure) & get FS down & up :D |

| 486752 | 2006-09-23 05:50:00 | This is from an article earlier in the year, but I would assume it reflects the zones mentioned in the article posted in this thread: For wholesale customers, Telecom offers only the Wholesale Bitstream Service (WBS) resale option with low margins and data caps, with seven plans equivalent to the Xtra retail ones. For example, the top-end 3.5Mbit/s/512kbit/s WBS Pro Ultra plan with 40GB monthly data allowance costs ISPs $129.15 in Zone 1, where Telecom has no competition, and $112.67 in Zone 2 where there is competition, with excess data charged at 1.6711 and 1.4578 cents respectively, plus GST. - www.computerworld.co.nz Therefore, my guess would be that Zone 2 is predominantly made up of where Telstra has laid fibre and the rest of the country would be Zone 1 (I could be wrong though). :) |

My question is why is the article dated 25th and how did the OP get his hands on it - I cant find anything on the pc world site . If there is a time machine involved can i get the lotto numbers? :D I have a subscription of Computerworld and for the past few years it usually arrive in my postbox on Saturday ie today . |

| 486756 | 2006-09-23 09:15:00 | Whatever the technology is capable of... ADSL allows up to 7.6mbit downstream, and this decreases with distance from exchange, number of users using at any one time, etc. I'm not sure what the max upstream is.. | bonkiebonks (7249) | ||
| 486757 | 2006-09-23 09:35:00 | what is fullspeed defined as? As much traffic shaping as Telecom can get away with.. :D |
