486178 2006-09-21 11:13:00 Which graphic card is better here? I mean for nVidia series.
6600?
FX5200?
FX5700?
Thanks. I want it for gaming and able to last a few years without outdated. My budget is $300+

486179 2006-09-21 11:44:00 uh...Have you posted here under a different name by anychance?

Anyhow, all those cards are not only well outdated, but pretty crappy even when they were current, The 5200 isn't even a card I would have considered for a gaming rig of any kind even when it was a new release.

486180 2006-09-21 11:45:00 6600 > 5700 > 5200

none of them will last long for gaming. actually 5700 and 5200
are already out of date for gamers who play latest games.

486181 2006-09-21 11:47:00 Then will you guys recommend me a good card for latest game i.e. Need For Speed - Carbon? PedalSlammer (8511)
486182 2006-09-21 11:51:00 The NFS games are poorly coded crap,Converted over from console to PC with no regard to how they will run.....Yet they still manage to make em ugly and low poly.

Pot-luck as to how any rig would run it.

I would sugest you boycott EA products.

486183 2006-09-21 12:56:00 your wanting to spend $300+? and your looking at lowend from 3 generations ago?
By the sounds of it you have agp.
I recommend you get an AGP 7600GS 256MB

486184 2006-09-21 13:36:00 GeForce 7600 GT 256MB, PCI-Express $305

look here (www.pricespy.co.nz) for cheapest prices.

you will need to tell us whether or not you have agp or pci-e. I use a 6600gt 128mb pci-e and it will run most games at or near max settings. but you can easily get a 7600 for $300.

also, what are the other specs of your rig? your question suggests that you may not necessarily have all the rest of your pc up to spec.

For reference, nvidia geforce cards now use pretty straight forward naming.
5600 it worse than a 5700 and so on. the higher the number the better. On top of that mau add GT or GS. GT is good. GS is ****. a 7600GS is equal to a 6600GT (roughly, possibly worse). another thing to consider whilst buying a video card is most games require 256MB to run well. 128MB will suffice. The problem is that the 256MB tands to be slightly slower than the 128MB card, so if you intend to play games with large/complex environments such as FEAR, or upcoming Crysis, you will need 256MB. you will also need 256MB for vista, minimum. my 128MB will run Farcry at max though, so go figure....

I hope this helps lol. my recommended specs for you rig would be 1GB RAM, and a pentium 4 3.0GHz, or AMD64 3000+. any lower and you're wasting your time, a 4000+ and 4GB ram is a waste of money, although some members will tell you otherwise (see my signiture)

ea games are fine, they made battlefeild 1942, after all. Although, the need for speed franchise, while popular, is not a driving game; it's car porn. I did, however, greatly enjoy underground using a 5600fx 128mb agp

486185 2006-09-21 13:37:00 GT is good. GS is ****

note radeon use a similar system, where SE means **** Edition

486186 2006-09-21 23:48:00 Whats with all the video card posts lately? There all asking pretty much the same question "i have $300ish what card should i buy?". Im sure online reviews and benchmarks were invented for a reason. Pete O'Neil (6584)
