487044 2006-09-24 13:07:00 How would you use a DOS programme in Windows? Some work and some don't :help:
So, does anyone know how to use DOS apps in Windows Home XP SP2? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

487046 2006-09-24 21:12:00 On XP some DOS programmes work fine in the Root Directory but not in a folder.

I don’t know why, I just found out by accident. ;)

487047 2006-09-25 06:38:00 DOS programmes will truncate filenames (and paths) at the first space found in the name. That is unlikely to work well in XP systems. In the root directory, there is no path to get messed up. :D Graham L (2)

487049 2006-09-26 09:16:00 Best bet is you look for a DOSBox Gui, it'll help make things easier Chilling_Silence (9)

Virtual PC, free download from MS and install DOS.

Works like a charm.

Virtual PC is a powerful software virtualization solution that allows you to run multiple PC-based operating systems simultaneously on one workstation, providing a safety net to maintain compatibility with legacy applications while you migrate to a new operating system. It also saves reconfiguration time, so your support, development, and training staff can work more efficiently.

DOSBox is a DOS-emulator that uses the SDL-library which makes DOSBox very easy to port to different platforms. DOSBox has already been ported to many different platforms, such as Windows, BeOS, Linux, MacOS X...
DOSBox also emulates CPU:286/386 realmode
