No. You can do it within windows maybe, but then if youre having probs now, u will have probs later. So, reinstalling / formatting the hdd would be better.

All u do is go into the BIOS change the bootdisk to the cd chuck the cd in save settings reboot, and let it install.

What version of Windows are we talking about?

You are able to do a repair install of XP, you don't say your reason for needing to do this so it is difficult to know whether this will fix the particular problem you are having, but as always backup any data you don't want to lose & then follow these instructions
