| 487281 | 2006-09-26 14:02:00 | Once again, it is interesting to see that Telecom says that "your connection speed will be as fast as your phone line allows." No mention of being slowed down by contention ratios at the exchanges or heavy web traffic etc. Which has gone from 50:1 to 140:1 I believe which means that if everyone jumps on the net at the same time you will end up with a speed slower than dialup. |

Yes you can, they watch UDP port traffic Oh, you have too much free time Jax! Dont you have a job? |

| 487284 | 2006-09-27 00:15:00 | The average person is not going to leave the computer online overnight and download with maybe a scheduled download manager with queues of items. That 1% or what it is, is just that. It may benefit those big downloaders should they wish to do that. But the rest of the user's are not going to do that so they are not going to benefit from that. With the fair use policy, the majority of all user's would be restricted by that policy. IMO its just another fine print decoy. While up front they say its unlimited usage. People who has their computer in their own bedrooms probably find it a nuisance to sleep so they don't bother to leave it on. Really, what average person leaves the computer on 24hr a day. |

That is not CSI stuff or blockbusters :D If a person wants to watch newer foreign tv or dramas they can download the episodes than say purchasing foreign sky channels and they are also much newer and you can miggle on those forums as well. Its also perfectly legal to do this as well. Unlike NZ, many of those places they have like DVDs of episodes for sale so instead of spending 1 month or 3 month for a series, you could knock it back in a weekend or two while staying at home. Foreign tv is a difference to western or american show's but that is another topic. Anyone know how much data Skype take that is audio based or video conferencing based? |

| 487286 | 2006-09-27 01:58:00 | Remember you will even use data, when you are connected and not doing anything. Virus attacks and you own PC(s) being infected, will use up data. I always switch off my modem, when I am not using my PC. Every byte counts, so they say. |

| 487288 | 2006-09-27 02:24:00 | Not really. While there is a minute cost for these attacks, why be exposed, when you don't need to be. The more time the hackers, crackers, script kiddies, bot nets, viruses, etc., get to try against your machine, the more time they have to compromise it. |
