487593 2006-09-27 05:04:00 I have attempted to download music from sites in the US. However, after registering and paying the various fees, I discover I am unable to connect to the sites providing the music search programs. I have disabled my firewalls, anti-virus programs etc but get the message "Connection to site failed. No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it". I am using Download Accelerator Plus.
Is this because I am living outside the US and the sites do not allow downloads?
The help from customer service at the music sites has not been of any assistance.

Stop using the download accelerator thing first - that won't help and some sites won't if you use them.

Second, most probably. In which case they shouldn't have taken your money....

Cheers :)

487597 2006-09-28 09:40:00 Music download sites I have attempted to download from are:
emusic.com
mymusicinc.com
iMusicShare.com

What sites in the US can NZers download from which don't involve file sharing?

487598 2006-09-28 10:01:00 You have been sucked in /scammed/ ripped off/taken for a ride , I would suggest you visit your bank and look at freezing your credit card.

And possibly get your PC serviced.

Looks like someone "sold" you the free version of limewire.

487600 2006-09-29 01:43:00 Try allofmp3.com -- I've never had any problems with them.

Flexible bit-rate downloading choices as well.

I would have to assume that this is the most likely reason.
They probably have IP address rules to enforce that only US based IPs can connect to their servers.

How long have you been with allofmp3.com? OK to give credit card details?
