487502 2006-09-26 10:17:00 This is a new member - first time questioner with problem of two parts that I can't solve. I'm using Windows XP Home and Outlook Express. I need know how I can (a) open an email attachment sent to me in M/Soft Excel format (as an attachment) when I do not have M/Soft Excel installed on my P.C.
And (b) If I had Excel installed on my computer and could open an email attachment in Excel format - how could I resend that email attachment to someone who did not have Excel installed.
If there is a way - perhaps now is a good time to check - will the way to do it be the same if the system (either end) was Windows XP Pro rather than the 'Home" edition?
Here's hoping. Cheers.

487503 2006-09-26 10:26:00 You can use the Excel Viewer (www.microsoft.com)

As stated on the MS site, it only opens Excel files, but u cant edit/change/save or create new spreadsheets.

487505 2006-09-26 10:33:00 If you get OpenOffice.org (guess the site address) you can open Excel files. The only catch is it's about 100MB to download. From that you could also turn them into PDFs. TGoddard (7263)
487506 2006-09-27 04:42:00 Openoffice is a good alternative (for free!) and I agree with TGoddard that its a large download but I think I got my latest version from the PC World mag CD/DVD a couple of months back, I think it was the first DVD issue. pico (4752)
