487395 2006-09-26 02:03:00 What do I need to do to be able to send fax's on broadband? Gordon Vendt (11204)
487396 2006-09-26 02:21:00 The broadband service does not use, and has no connection to the "dial-up" part of the phone line (assuming your broadband is ADSL over phone line).

So you need a dial-up modem or a stand alone fax machine also connected, and plugged in just as if it were a phone. Totally unrelated to the broadband side of things.

487397 2006-09-27 04:45:00 I think there are some websites that will send faxes for you if the suggestion below doesn't suit however the question over whether you want to be sending information to a third party remains. I'm not sure how much it costs to use these services or if they're even available in downunder! pico (4752)
487398 2006-09-27 06:02:00 I use a programme called Mighty Fax which I run through my PC. Zippity (58)
487399 2006-09-27 06:42:00 to fax from a puter you MUST use a 'dialup' modem NOT a broadband connection it just wont work that way.......

from the mightfax site: No Fax Machine Required. All you need to use our fax program is a telephone line and the modem you already have in your computer.

I am on Broadband and I use Mighty Fax (a software package) on my PC.

Which part of my statement can you not understand?

487401 2006-09-27 07:41:00 Does mighty fax dial the number via a standard modem Zippity? roddy_boy (4115)
487402 2006-09-27 08:07:00 Gulp :dogeye:

I'm not sure that I have a standard modem on my PC.

I am using a D-Link DSL G604T ADSL Router.

Regardless, I am using Broadband and am able to send and receive faxes, which is what the original poster was asking, No?

487403 2006-09-27 08:14:00 From the mightyfax website:
"Are you using DSL or Cable? Having DSL or Cable does not prevent faxing, as long as your 56k modem and standard analog telephone line are still connected. Most people have this, even if they also have DSL or Cable."

487404 2006-09-27 08:17:00 Well there you have it then.

Zippity, I believe the OP was trying to find out if it is possible to use only the broadband (DSL) connection to send a fax, as opposed to having to use the dial-up modem to transmit it.
