487764 2006-09-28 01:44:00 by unplugging the pc when it was in sleep mode (so they said), so the screen was off. Had to do some wiring for a friend, and his 14 year old boy, after I'd got the power back on, sat at the pc and looked and found one black pixel and virtually said it was my fault for unplugging it.It's a fairly recent mac, with the 17" white surround, dvd player in the side of it. Sorry, didn't like to take the model number after that!!!! Neil McC (178)

I have a 20-inch iMac and it has been accidently unplugged several times while I have been using it and I've never had any problems. maccrazy (6741)

You have more chance of winning the European Lottery without buying a ticket than you have of killing a pixel by removing the power. It may have been dead all along, or perhaps it chose that moment to fail, but either way, it's not your fault.

If the owner doubts you, send him to a Mac service company, though you risk him getting bad advice and coming back saying I told you so!

487767 2006-09-28 20:27:00 Thanks Billy and maccrazy. My tech friend says the same thing.Just to make sure he's given me the mac dealer address here, so I'll pop in and ask them!
Then I'll ring my friend.........
