(I don't believe this is neccessary with Intels, but I've read a lot on other forums saying this is one of the first things you should do for AMDs) | Marmion (9274)

(I don't believe this is neccessary with Intels, but I've read a lot on other forums saying this is one of the first things you should do for AMDs) I have not installed it for mine and everything runs fine except for one game... which is NFS MW but if I do install the patch it works fine. I don't bother unless it will fix something and that is the only thing I have seen it fix | The_End_Of_Reality (334)
| 488226 | 2006-10-11 00:07:00 | The 4000+ is 200MHz faster than the X2... you are not comparing apples with apples the better test would be a 4600+or 4800+ (depending on the cache of the 4000+) as they will then have the same clock speed and amount of cache, then it is apples with apples. And the link you provided only compares the CPUs in singlethreaded apps... And still does not prove how it is the X2 that is causing your problems... I am comparing the performance of an x2 with MY COMPUTER. Not with what it may do with other programs on other comps. And the problem is now solved. I have installed a 4000+ cpu and no more problem. So the prob WAS the dual core. Boy am I smiling!!!:D :D :D |

| 488227 | 2006-10-11 00:16:00 | Ok did you have the afore mentioned dual core patch? I still say there is nothing wrong with them, might have just been you specific chip, the dual core patch... or lack of it | The_End_Of_Reality (334) | ||

It's just that one particular game requires more resources than what is available with dual core. |
