If you do not agree with an opinion, then discuss it in a mature manner. No need to resort to those sorts of comments. | Jen (38) | ||

There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with the Dual Core CPUs, obviously the one you have is slower than your older CPU (maybe, I am not sure) PER CORE, but I think if you use programs that can run on both cores you WILL find a MAJOR speed increase, obviously you don't care about future proofing your PC where the manufacturers are making games more compatible with DC CPUs be it slowely... but they are and when the DC CPUs are running the market, what will you be saying then? will you still be complaining about the small performance decrease of a game you hardly play compared to all the other games? |

I disagree with you. There's plenty wrong with dual core cpu's. Unless you get some virtualy non existent software that uses the whole cpu your programs will run slower and stutter. I have a program that is shown as using oner 90% of resources on a 4200+ cpu. On a single core 3200+ it used about 60%. And I strongly suspect it can cause stutter and hesitation in graphic cards. Just because something is new it is not necessarialy better. An SLI set up is another example of newer not being better. I don't dispute that when software is written that can make use of the new hardware you will see an improvement. |

| 488209 | 2006-10-06 08:27:00 | No programs I have stutter, nor my GFX card stutters, everything works amazingly well, resources are right... I agree, newer is not nessecarily better, but they have been out for a while, near on a year I think and I class it as not new anymore IMO. But I guess that is your view on DC CPUs, I have mine so I am sticking with it |

Murphys Law. haha my brother had boot issue that looked very much like a buggered harddrive. after some stressing over lost data i decided to unplug and replug the sata cables and problem solved! :D edit: w00t i invented a new word! | 488212 | 2006-10-06 20:24:00 | 1st) The 7600GT is not a crappy card . No, but as he says - he is playing FEAR. www.firingsquad.com "F.E.A.R. is capable of taxing even the latest hardware." www.gamespot.com Graphics F.E.A.R already comes with steep hardware requirements to run well, and one place you don't want to skimp on is the video card. We tested the game with all the modern video cards to see how they perform in F.E.A.R. "As we said earlier, F.E.A.R. will eat through video cards and still ask for seconds." www.anandtech.com |

Have you got any proof that its the dual core CPU thats responsible for your slow downs? It could be numerous other factors that are causing the problem. Seeing as the 4200+ is 200MHz faster per core than the 3200+ it should be expected that it would outperform the 3200+ irrelevant of the extra core. I'd wager a lazy fiver that its something else causing your problems. |
