488194 2006-09-30 00:50:00 : Hi can anyone help me with this matter?

I've just put together a new system and it works just fine until I play 3D games like Doom 3 or Fear. The graphics card seems to hang and the sound loops quickly after about 5 minutes into playing the game and it hangs for about 5-30secs and then comes right and then happens again and again which makes the game unplayable. it can also cause some of the textures in the game to be rendered strangely. The system I am using is

E6300 core 2 duo chip
Gigabyte GA-965P DSE Mother board
2048 meg of ADATA dual channel DDR2-800 memory
Albatron 7600GT PCIE 256 DDR3 video card
520watt Raidmax RX-520-24P ATX PSU
Gigabyte Aurora aluminim case (tons of space for cooling.

I am using the latest Forceware video drivers 91.47

I have updated the bios on the motherboard

Down loaded the lastest patch for FEAR (and what a patch!!!)

No conflicts showing in the device manager and have also done a complete reistall of Windows.

all hardware is running at stock speeds and has not been overclocked.

I've tried even the lowest settings for these games and still I have this problem.

I have also have Direct X installed

Can anybody help me with this problem as this sucks for a new PC that is only about 1 week old.

488195 2006-09-30 01:12:00 Did u install the mobo drivers after u reinstalled windows?

Is there anything in device manager with a ? still ?

I think those Nvidia drivers are gettting crappier, everytime a new version comes out.

I downloaded 91.47 a while ago for the other PC. It did nothing but crash the system. In the end, I replaced the card with an ATI card, removed the Nvidia drivers completely, installed the ATI drivers, and it hasnt crashed since.

488196 2006-09-30 01:26:00 I installed windows XP pro then SP2 and then the motherboard drivers and then the video card drivers. The device manager is clean with no problems. dlewis (11225)
488197 2006-09-30 01:32:00 I think your graphics card is overheating. Try taking the side off the case and blow some air into it with a fan and see what happens.

488198 2006-10-01 02:08:00 I set up the hair dryer to blow cold air onto the card but it didn't help. Checked Google (typed in 7600 freezes?) and alot of other people around the place are also having this problem with 7600gt cards using all sorts of different system configs both AMD and INTEL. There are pages and pages from Google of people with this same problem. My old MX 440 is more reliable than this piece of junk! and I can't see how mags and web sites can give thids card such good reviews when some many people are having the same problem with this card? dlewis (11225)
488199 2006-10-01 02:32:00 There will always be people having problems with every product, you'll hear more from the people having problems than the people who are happy. In most cases there will be a logical way to fix the problem it might just take some patience.

You may have a defective card (it does unfortunately happen from time to time), but id be inclined to beleive it is either a heat or power issue. Make sure the HSF on the 7600GT is making good contact with the GPU, and make sure the graphics card is seated in the PCIe slot properly.

I get the feeling it might not be a GPU problem, run Prime95 to test the CPU and Memtest to test the memory. It would really be good if you could aquire a spare PCIe video card from a friend to eliminate the 7600 as the problem.

488200 2006-10-01 05:06:00 Hi dlewis, Just out of interest, does it do it when you play games on line, and not off. Or dosn't it matter?? G-Boy (6793)
488201 2006-10-05 09:57:00 I had the same problem and I think you need to read these threads m8ty...

One: The card is not that great, you spent all that money and skimped on the graphics?

Two: Try an older Nvidia driver. Friend had some issues with the newest and fixed it by going back to an older one.

488203 2006-10-06 00:01:00 PCTek, go troll elsewhere please.......or get your tyres rotated. I'm getting tired of your constant crapping on the forum.

1st) The 7600GT is not a crappy card .
2nd) The poster might be limited by the resolution of his screen hence the card.

OP, have you another or a friend pc to test the card in?
