488029 2006-09-29 03:38:00 I have a register of Reference Nos (col A). Each Reference No represents a separately created .xls spreadsheet in an adjacent Folder. (They could easily be in the same Folder iof it makes a difference). A typical No would be 06-1005, and this is the name of the matching spreadsheet file.

Is there any way to arrange the Register so that a click on the Job No (or an adjacent cell) opens the appropriate spreadsheet?

488030 2006-09-29 03:54:00 click into cell , goto menu item "insert" then "hyperlink" then follow the wizard through.

I would reccomend put your reference file in the same folder as the referenced files then if the folder is moved you dont have the problem of broken links.

Thanks for the advice, it did allow me to turn each cell into a hyperlink and rename it back to the Job No.

However I want to be able to either:
a. Change the Macro that posts the number there in the Register so that the Job No it is created as a hyperlink, or
b. Write a formula that takes the 'input' from that macro (Column A) and create in Column B the hyperlink automatically. I tried using a concatenation formula but while it read correctly it did not have a hyperlink capability.

So I am still looking!

488032 2006-10-03 19:41:00 Hi Graham, as an example...

Example Details...
1) You have all the files stored in the folder c:\Graham\Test
2) Cell D5 contains the number of the file. For example 123
3) Each file is simply named the number, eg 123.xls

Formula To Use...
=HYPERLINK("C:\Graham\Test\"&D5&".xls","Name For Hyperlink")
