488838 2006-10-03 08:31:00 Just a quick question on scripting.

I have designed the main page for a website and are now wondering if the following is possible....

All the menu buttons on the main page that link to the various pages of the website (ie home, store, contact etc) each open in a new browser window when clicked. Is it possible to have them all open in the same new window? (ie if I was to click on 'home' the home page opens in a new browser window, then if I was to click on 'store' the store page would open in the new window that the 'home' paged had just opened in before).

Any help would be appreciated :)

Can you post or show us the website? As I would like to see the code to see how that is happing as normally the pages should open in the same new window

What are you using to make this site? Microsoft FrontPage?, Macromedia Dreamweaver? etc..

488841 2006-10-03 09:33:00 Check the code. A page will open in a new window if it includes:
<a href="www.yoursite.co.nz target="_blank">Link</a>

If you want it to open in the same window remove target="_blank"

488842 2006-10-03 10:37:00 You can do this by picking some arbitrary name and setting it as the target of all the links.

i.e. <a href="/about" target="my_site_window">About Me!!</a>

You have to use the same name for all of them. Note that some browsers may choose to ignore this because new windows opening like this are incredibly annoying to users. It will probably annoy many people so much they leave (I would), but if you don't mind this you can do whatever you like.
