| 488745 | 2006-10-03 06:17:00 | And you are trying to network this PC to another PC that has wireless arent you?? Its going to connect to other pc's thru a wireless router. I dont know anything about wireless networks, Im just putting the card in for my cousin who will do the rest after that. My concern is that it isnt being detected or showing up in device manager. I thought the light would go on once it was installed properly. |

For the LED to come on, you need to go to network neighbourhood (or whatever 98 SE has) and give it an ip address, and make sure the workgroup name is the same as the other pc with the router. And make sure the subnet mask for this wireless card is pointing to the ip aaddress of the router as well. Also if anything has a firewall on it this will also have to be configured so it allows u to share the connection / and a folder (if u want to share a folder). I dont know why its not appearing in device manager. It might if u reboot ( if u havent rebooted yet). Has this computer you're trying to get connected got a normal ethernet network card as well? Or has it only got a wireless card installed? You may also have to configure the router, so the router knows its there. And give each a key so its secure. Is this for broadband or wireless internet like Woosh? |

| 488747 | 2006-10-03 06:52:00 | Ive rebooted several times now and nothing happens. Theres no firewall yet. The pc has onboard network port but it hasn't been used. Its been using dialup but now my cousin has got broadband and wants the wireless so she doesnt have to run cables to the other room. I expected this network card to show in network properties but it doesnt yet as it hasnt been detected. If and when I get it installed she is going to do the rest of configuring. |

| 488749 | 2006-10-03 07:04:00 | So, u installed these drivers (www.dse.co.nz) ? It sounds like the drivers havent been installed yet. The slot can't be the prob if the modem that was in that slot before worked. |

The other pc installed and detected the card but froze after rebooting so had to uninstall it to get pc working again.
