488918 2006-10-03 10:36:00 I am looking to ship my laptop off tommorow after selling it on Trademe, trying to format the hard drive and reinstall xp for the buyer to activate themselves, but the laptop refuses to boot off anything but it's own hard drive. It is a HP NC4000, it has no floppy drive or cd-rom drive, but I did install XP 6 months ago using the external devices, and the external devices work fine in my desktop. I have tried two different cd-rom drives plugged into the external caddy, and also tried using a bootable usb key I have, which works everywhere else but my laptop now it seems!

I really need a quick fix, I can't send this laptop off with all my stuff still sitting around on it!

488919 2006-10-03 11:58:00 well, got in contact with HP live support and they solved the problem somehow, something they told me to do worked, but nothing actually worked as I did it, it just happened to work as I reset to do a bios update after failing to load off the cd-rom (where the laptop immediately skipped to hdd and loaded Windows) dirtbag (6060)
