| 489237 | 2006-10-04 23:46:00 | Hi, Just looking for a bit of direction, I have a 1 port modem(broadband) and I wish to be able to use my laptop wirelessly, I would still like to leave the desktop hardwired but able to use my laptop anywhere around the house and able to pick up the internet. Can anybody give me an idea of my requirements and an estimation of what cost I should allow?. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

This will allow the PC to remain connected via network cable plus allow the notebook to connect wirelessly or via network cable. 2) Purchase a 4 port wireless access point. Your existing modem will connect to this as well as the PC via network cable and the notebook could be used wirelessly or via network cable. If it were me I would go with option 1 as it makes for an easier setup with only 1 device and one power socket needed. Option 2 would require another power socket plus a bit of configuring to get both units talking to each other. |
