489288 2006-10-06 04:57:00 Updated Zone Alarm, solved my original problem :) but have to 'OK' several 'can't find' messages as Zone Alarm opens up. I think I'll be going back to the origianl version too Siani. What do you use then Godfather?

Thanks everyone for your comments so far :)

489289 2006-10-06 05:19:00 I rely on my NAT enabled router for full inwards protection (though XP firewall is On, but has nothing to do)

Periodically I enable Kerio firewall just for satisfaction that nothing unknown is going out, but it gets bored as well, if nothing nasty gets in, then it sure ain't going to go out.

I have fully updated AV, periodically sweep for adware etc, (never find more than a cookie or so which I understand well enough and don't get concerned about).

Perhaps my surfing habits differ, but I have been "connected" to the web since the days of 300 baud modems (0.3 kbps) and have never had an infected PC.

Currently have about 1.5 GB of internet traffic a month (a bit faster than 300 baud now though thank goodness...) , don't do P2P or warez, use basic intelligence on what I click on and keep all security updates applied.
