489406 2006-10-05 18:32:00 Yeah don't see a problem with that. I am curious as to what you're going to do with 3GB of RAM. Seems a bit overkill, even for a gaming rig.

Having said that, you can never have too much RAM I guess.

***EDIT***
Ok just saw the rest of your system specs... I would dump the Corsair RAM and use the money to get a better graphics card, the 7300 isn't exactly top class and their are better GPU's out there.

489407 2006-10-05 19:02:00 well, im currently running a gig in my rig and vista beta 2 says that it is running at 99% most the time . my next computer i was just planin on runing 2 gigs but i thought that i could put the extra gig in for an extra boost of power . i will be using windows media center, playing alot of games, running vista, dual monitors, lots of tv tuner(this one dosnt use the graphics card to decode though),dvd burning(want it to be realy fast), game burning(ps2 and 360 when i figure it out), and other basic pc usage .

adding the extra gig cannot slow it down can it? i was on another fourm and they were saying somting to the effect that if the timings are different it could screw things up .

what slots do i put this sticks in?

489408 2006-10-05 19:30:00 Wow, you won't need a swapfile with that amount of RAM! :D pcuser42 (130)
489409 2006-10-05 19:32:00 Your prices seem ridiculously low. Where are you? In the USA? JJJJJ (528)
489410 2006-10-05 19:45:00 yea im in the us, i dont know how i managed to get on these fourms, but its cool you guys helped me and speak english .

do all my parts look compatable?

489411 2006-10-05 19:56:00 I think get the most RAM you can, I am running Vista RC1 and have 70% free (out of 2Gb) so I don't know what your problem is, or what you are running to consume so much...

I would not reccoment that setup... I personally, others might say there is no problem, but I like to keep things systematic when it comes to RAM etc and I would dunp the Corsair and go for 4Gb of G.Skill, or even just the 2Gb as that should be pleanty for what you want, I think Vista was lying to you.

Yes, I can see where the others are coming from with the different timings and COULD be a problem, thats why I suggest going all one brand and model

Yes Jack, those are US prices, note the Newegg.com

Yes that's true, this usually happens when you're mixing large sized modules with small ones, such as 1GB sticks with 512 or smaller.

2GB is more than enough. If you're gaming then I would definitely get rid of the Corsair and use the money to get a beefier graphics card.

489413 2006-10-06 09:02:00 How much faster is Corsair than the run-of-the-mill $70 budget stuff? Cornot (10386)
