489200 2006-10-04 16:57:00 I know I have raised this subject before , but I still don't have a satisfactory answer.
I have an Athlon 64 x 2 4200+ cpu. I am only interested in running a program that does not make use of half of my cpu.

Without any evidence apart from performance I am convinced I am getting a very reduced performance than what I was getting from my old 3200+ cpu.

The dual core may be the way of the future, but I am not interested in the future. I am talking about NOW.

My main problem is getting dumped to desktop. I can not get any sense out of "EVENT VIEWER" and even less sense from MS.

I have even done a deep format and loaded just XP and my game with all addons. Not even a/v. I still get dumped, when the going gets tough. I think the largest draw on resources comes from having two separate com. channels open. This is essential.

Plenty of others I know don't have my problem, but I don't know anyone using a x2 cpu.

Anyway I have decided to buy a 4000+ cpu and see what happens.

489204 2006-10-04 20:32:00 this is interesting. as i have a 4200+ Dual Core on Loan from the shop whilst i wait for my paid for 5000+. And the poster in that link ses thqat when he installs the Drivers, he gets the DRIVER_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL BSOD, which is exactly what i get when i install the AMD Dual Core Optimizer. have to boot into safe mode and manually delete it.

But my Mobo also likes to reboot itself 2 - 3 times everytime i turn it on, and likes to re-set CPU Frequency.
