2006-10-07 16:24:00 | I can upload as good as ever but can not download anything at all. My puter shop says it could be a port 80 problem. Can I check this and maybe repair it ? I have XP and Xandros OS's

2006-10-07 20:48:00 | ALSO I have 2 OS's and both are the same.So it is not the router or connection or firewalls etc. | kjaada (253) | |
2006-10-07 21:17:00 | To get this clear, you have an external modem/router which two computers connect to. The laptop works fine connected to this router, but the desktop which is dual booted has the problem. What exactly do you mean by download port problem - websites (port 80), FTP applications (port 21) etc? What is the model/make of the router? If both XP and Xandros on the desktop are displaying the problems, it could be a setting in the router for that computer. Have you assigned IPs to the desktop computer? Are they both the same IP for XP and Xandros? Check your router to make sure you haven't blocked the desktop internal IP for any setting. Have you tried plugging in the ethernet cable into the port used by the laptop on the router?

2006-10-07 21:32:00 | I have a faulty main frame box running XP and Xandros.Connected thru a router.I can send email but not receive or get my browser to get past "waiting for url".I disconnect the mainfame and I connect to the same port on the router using a laptop and all is honky dory.My puter shop up the road says it appears to be a port 80 fault although he has had it working the other way.ie can get email but not send.He has not heard of it happening the other way round. Also I have a home net work and I cannot Find the other puter from the mainframe but the other puter finds mine but can not send to it. | kjaada (253) | |
2006-10-08 06:40:00 | So ... have you looked at the router settings to see whether it is blocking certain ports for the desktop IP? If you are unsure where to look post your make and model and someone should be able to help out. | Jen (38) | |
2006-10-08 16:49:00 | The router is a Dlink DSL 504G and it is found but a page comes up to show it does nt reply if I ping it. | kjaada (253) | |
