Disagree. More professional in your opinion.

489692 2006-10-09 10:43:00 I like dashes - more than underscores _ to seperate words, I think this is more important Than-The_Case.html Rob99 (151)
489693 2006-10-09 19:25:00 Congrats. Nice job. Clean crisp and colourful. I like the roll-overs. BTW, the concept of this sort of business is commendable - surely there is a need for this sort of service. Strommer (42)
489694 2006-10-09 19:46:00 One of the best sites I have ever seen.
It does what it's supposed to without pages of clutter.

BUT , how long before it gets filled with sponsors advertising? YUK!

I read every single word on the site, which is more than I can say for all the other sites.

489695 2006-10-09 20:47:00 I've only looked at the home page, but it's the most important page so here's my review:

The logo is quite good though the jaggedness in the inner circle edging isn't that good, it seems to not be a fix width and changes, which may have been the effect that they tried to achieve but it is the only thing that doesn't look right for it.

The main heading with it's jaggedness font isn't too pleasing to look at either.

The pinkish color used for the hovering and active page doesn't have enough distinction from the purple background and makes it hard to read.

I like how it's brief and to the point, that's excellent but I have some concerns on the phrases used for what a Deputy Daughter will do, might need to be rephrased. I don't know maybe it is good the way it is, but using "Take" is quite a strong forceful word when used in that context and it seems emphasized by how it's repeated, and then those phrases, I felt will trigger a person into being someone who's incapable of doing these things and also could make them to feel that way even more and also be treated like a dog when you say "Take you for a walk".

There's also quite a lot of white space but it's not bad to be compacted like that if you could center it in the page instead, you could probably increase the font size slightly for the audience I am assuming you would be getting too.

I decided not to review the source code, as I'm strict and obsolete/proprietary attributes, poorly named styles, bad semantics, tables for display. All get very bad results from me.

As for leaving out meta information, well, it's not totally relied on but it's still sometimes used so you're only doing yourself in if you don't use them and I agree with the title needing a better name to reflect the information.

And whoever said it's not professional to use lowercase for name of files. I might not say it's professional but it's better this way because of case sensitivity and the fact that if someone had to type this URL in, do they really want to have to titlecase the pages, because they'll get different results on Unix/Linux hosted servers. Though there's ways you can fix this but it requires you configuring your server's .htaccess file and URL rewriting and capturing so that you can direct them to the correct page no matter what case they use.

My overall result for just this homepage, excluding the source code would be 6/10 if it were to include the source it'd be about 3/10. There's a lot that could be improved to make it more semantic and also clean up the styling to save a few bytes more.

Cheers,

KK

489696 2006-12-08 22:44:00 Thank you for all the feedback and encouragement!!

As I'm sure you can tell I'm not a 'techie' but enjoy playing around with Dreamweaver .

I've tidied up the Deputy Daughters heading (managed to use a friend's Photoshop) and taken on a few other suggestions .

see www . deputydaughters . com

Thanks again

489698 2006-12-09 10:48:00 For your image tags you should use an alt "very short description", but still looks good. Rob99 (151)
489699 2006-12-09 11:32:00 Very nice site. The pinkish border around the logo could do with a touch-up to even it out, but apart from that, very good.

The site is very quick even when I'm using all my available bandwidth, so will probably be dialup friendly too :)

489700 2006-12-09 15:49:00 The pinkish borderPink!?? lol It's burgundy, or purple if you wish. But it ain't pink!

But yeah the front page is sweet. Only thing I'd suggest without looking further is to give the page a title.
