489974 2006-10-08 04:38:00 Im getting alot on the Intell Core DUO. im guessing its a really good cpu?

Also will it be compatible with a ASUSTeK Computer INC. P4P800S-X Rev 1.xx mobo?

No duo core isnt compatible with the P4P800S. You'll have to get another mobo and new ram.

If u have the P4P800S mobo you'll need a 478 pin CPU. Not an LGA 775 CPU.

Which is what Duo core uses I think.

And DDR ram.

489975 2006-10-08 04:40:00 wow...well....is it christmas time yet?
AND if i get a new mobo that supports the DUO it probly wont be an AGP mobo so ill have to get a new graphics card too...so i pretty much need a new computer...

489976 2006-10-08 04:51:00 Ok, sorry for the double post, but let me ask this...

Im using a pentium 4 on my P4P800S mobo. so what would be a better cpu then i already have that would be compatible with my mobo?

And what speed is the CPU now? 3 GHZ??

That mobo can only support up to 3.6 ghz, according to the ASUS site.

And whether u can still get 3.6 ghz CPU's is another matter.

You can only use 478 pin Cpu's on that mobo.

If u want anything better, u might as well buy parts for another system and build it yourself, or buy a new computer altogether.

489978 2006-10-08 05:18:00 so your saying 478 pin 3.6 ghz cpu's are extremly rare? Motokid600 (11183)

Well, if you're in NZ, try looking for one on a site somewhere. Someone may have one but it may not be cheap.

It maybe different, if you're somewhere else.

489980 2006-10-08 06:47:00 Don't bother with spending money on a 478 platform system, rather save your money and buy a 775 core2duo system. Maybe more expensive but will last longer than the 478 platform.

cheers

Just got a Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 and it said to be very fast. Unfortunately didn't know about the 24 pin power connector (as opposed to the 20 pin usual) needed on the motherboard so got to get one tomorrow. Hopefully up and running in the next few days.
