490304 2006-10-14 10:52:00 ah you have too, sorry. while i can find that other people have had similar issues they never seem to resolve them. one particulary compents pc user had done all sorts with his bios etc etc and got it semi-stable. then his pc overheated and died.... are you overclocking anything? no? well possibly check the GPU and ambient temperatures of your card if you can get that far...... i'm pretty sure this is just an incompatibility issue, it would explain why it works fine with the other pc, but checking that it isn't shutting off due to heat cannot hurt (and you wont know untill you check, try find a copy of everest if you dont have any software to tell you the temp.)... perhaps sell it on TM or pay a restocking fee and get an nvidia card instead:p motorbyclist (188)

What can I do if they wanna use old AMD case? Oh well, it's up to them.
Restocking fee? It is about 20% for me because it is almost 2 weeks. I think I won't return the stock to them because I'm going to lose a lot.
 While, thank you motorbyclist and Speedy Gonzales for your support.
Instead of creating new thread does anyone know a casing for P4 with HT for around $50? Without CPU? You know for my parents P4 with HT because of poor ventilation. I might let them considering one if you guys can help me out. Many thanks, PedalSlammer.

490306 2006-10-14 18:58:00 I use a P4 here with HT. Never had any probs with ventilation / heat issues.

Just make sure the wires from the PSU are not all over the place so it doesnt restrict airflow.

And get a case that can have a few fans in it. The case here has only got a back fan and one u can put at the front. The PSU also has 2 fans. One on the back and one underneath it.

And an opening that goes over the CPU and a grille on the side of the case, where u open the case.

:stare: Those cases is going to cost more than fifty bucks, I mean I saw one which cost around $150.

490308 2006-10-15 02:37:00 ok, if it's all sealed up your problem is quite possibly heat, it would explain the timeframe and why it dies in only one pc

amd/intel dont produce cases.

my case cost $30, it has 2 fan mounts at the back and two on the side, the top one of which has a duct/intake tube thingy right over my cpu fan... i bought extra fans at $10 each and put them on the sides, one to cool my video card and the other between the case and duct thing. as a result my cpu will go as low as 18 degrees, with the aid of amd cool'n'quiet....

most case cost lots and you again et what you pay for... or just buy a fan or two, cut some holes in the side panel and feed fresh air onto the cpu and graphics card... 80mm fans cost 5 bucks or to buck for LED cool glowing ones, have a look at madkiwi (madkiwihosting.co.nz), they are a good shop - great service and trustworthy too, also sell on TM, and i think they/he posts on pf1 from time to time

one of those slot cooling fans may help, but i've never tried one so cannot realy comment

i would still like to know the temperatures the two reach though

i would still like to know the temperatures the two reach thoughThanks motorbyclist. I think for my parents case, I think they should really change it. The power supply is blocking the processor heat causing it trapped there.
And the VGA ventilation? The side is usually blocked because of the side wall.
Oh well, might look for TM for cheap cases.
 Many thanks again.
